You can brush normally with attachments. However, you may need to spend a bit more time cleaning around them since they can trap food particles. They are securely placed with dental adhesive so it's unlikely they will fall off with regular at-home care.
Contrary to what you might think, attachments can wear out over time. While your provider will be keeping an eye out for this, you should certainly let them know if you feel like one has chipped or worn down significantly.
How Noticeable Are Invisalign Attachments? While Invisalign trays are in the mouth, it is unlikely that anyone will see the attachments beneath them. When the trays are removed, they might be more visible as little white bumps on the teeth.
It's only the Invisalign® tooth aligners that are see-through clear. Any “attachments,” “buttons” or elastics (rubber bands) that are used in conjunction with them are not. And if your case requires these kinds of items, they may be a tip-off to others that you are having orthodontic treatment.
“In short, these attachments and tools (like buttons and elastics) give your Invisalign aligner more to hold on to and direct the bite to a better position,” says Dr. Gire. “Invisalign is certainly more esthetic than even clear braces and it's so advanced now that we can pretty much treat any patient with this system.”
They are tiny, and if you swallow them, they cause no damage. As soon as you discover that one is missing, ask the dentist to provide a replacement. At the end of the treatment period, they are removed by the dentist with no fuss at all.
The answer is, there are no Invisalign food restrictions. You can continue to eat whatever you'd like as long as you take your aligners out first. Remove your Invisalign aligners before eating or drinking anything aside from cold or room temperature, plain water.
A good analogy is to think of them as “handles” that allow your Invisalign trays to grab on tightly and move the tooth properly. Because they're raised and have sharp edges, they allow the aligners to exert more force and move your teeth more effectively compared to the smooth surface of the tooth.

In general, the success rate of Invisalign is quite high. The overall success rate of Invisalign is around 96%. This means that 96% of patients who complete treatment with Invisalign achieve their desired results and are completely satisfied with the treatment.
Most dentists acknowledge that 80-90% of the Invisalign intended changes will be achieved. To achieve the last 20% refinements will be required in most cases. Refinements will only be required when your teeth aren't correctly responding to treatment.
#7 What to do while waiting for your refinement aligners
While you're waiting on new aligners, make sure to continue wearing the current aligner set you've been wearing, so as to not lose any progress and stay on track – DO NOT change your aligner if you've been asked to take new impressions.
People who require less or minimal teeth straightening can be given around 15-25 Invisalign trays, whereas those who need more major teeth straightening treatment can be given around 40-50 Invisalign trays. But on average, a patient requires around 20-30 sets of Invisalign aligners.
As you get older, your jaw muscles, ligaments, tissues, and fibers surrounding your teeth can weaken. As a result, your teeth can loosen and shift. In some cases, changes to your facial features caused by age can place pressure on your teeth, pushing them inward.
Brushing your teeth regularly and avoiding stain-causing foods and drinks will help to keep your attachments less visible. It's always recommended to floss between your teeth once a day, and during your Invisalign treatment, it's even more imperative.
Teeth are secured not directly into the bone, but with a tough but flexible ligament. This ligament allows the tooth to wiggle just a little bit. About a hundredth of an inch is normal, just enough that you might feel it move under significant pressure, but you shouldn't actually be able to see the movement.
Your orthodontist might suggest you soak your Invisalign in denture or retainer cleaner rather than use toothpaste. Some orthodontists advise that toothpaste is too abrasive and will scratch your aligners. However, some dentists recommend lightly brushing your aligners with toothpaste and rinsing well with cold water.

Patients fear that their teeth may yellow while wearing Invisalign clear aligners, but this is not true. They also protect your teeth from substances that may stain them.
One of the leading causes of staining around Invisalign attachments is dark-colored beverages. Coffee, tea, and red wine can all cause staining. If you're a patient who enjoys these drinks, beware and try to minimize your consumption!
Tea and coffee can be safely consumed while you're undergoing treatment with Invisalign clear braces, although you should not drink these beverages while you are wearing the trays. Although you don't have to chew when you're drinking beverages, it's important to remove the trays before consuming them.
Most people never experience any issues when kissing with Invisalign braces in because Invisalign aligners are smooth and are designed to fit tightly to your teeth. They don't move, so they won't dislodge or affect your kissing.
If there is a cardinal rule for Invisalign, it's this: your trays must be worn 20 – 22 hours a day for them to be effective. The trays slowly and gradually shift your teeth into place, so if you aren't wearing them, they obviously cannot do their job!
Generally speaking, Invisalign is understood to be the fastest braces treatment. This is because Invisalign is typically used for treating minor cases, meaning only 20-30 sets of aligners are required over 6-8 months (roughly).
When you no longer need the attachments, they will simply be buffed off your tooth. You may not need any attachments at all. If your treatment plan is straightforward, and the Invisalign aligners can do all the alignment work on their own, you may never need attachments on your teeth.

If you wear the aligners without brushing the teeth, food particles and other debris can get trapped between the teeth and the aligners, leading to bacteria and plaque build-up. Overtime, the bacteria and plaque build-up may cause discoloration or staining, among other problems such as tooth decay and gum disease.
In short, you'll have to wear your retainers for the rest of your life after finishing Invisalign treatment. It might sound inconvenient, but it's well worth the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful, straight, healthy smile for life!
You can still whiten your teeth while using Invisalign or during clear aligner treatment. You can use whitening toothpaste or mouthwash when you take your trays out to clean your teeth or use low-dose whitening gels during the time that your Invisalign trays are out of your mouth.
Your orthodontist or Invisalign provider will be able to give you a more accurate estimate of how many aligners you will need once they have had a chance to assess your individual case. However, in general, most people can expect to use around 20-30 aligners over the course of their treatment.
